Once, a fox felt very hungry on a warm and sunny day. He had been wandering through the forest for a long time, hoping to find something tasty, but there wasn’t much food around. The fox’s stomach grumbled as he thought, “I need to find something to eat soon!”
As he walked along, he noticed a tall vine with big, juicy grapes hanging from it. The grapes were beautiful and purple, and it looked so tasty. The fox’s eyes lit up, and he smiled to himself. “These grapes look perfect! I’m sure they’ll taste sweet and delicious,” he said.
Excited, the fox ran up to the vine and stood on his back legs, reaching out with his front paws. But no matter how much he stretched, he couldn’t reach the grapes. The grapes were too high to reach.
The fox took a few steps back. He thought, “If I jump high, I can grab those grapes.” So, he crouched down low and then jumped as high as possible. But even though he tried his best, he still couldn’t reach the grapes.
“Hmm,” the fox said, scratching his head. “Maybe I need a little more speed.” He ran a few steps and jumped again, this time with more energy. But once again, he missed the grapes.
The fox was getting tired now. He had jumped and jumped, but the grapes were still out of reach. He tried one last time, using all his strength to leap into the air. But sadly, he still couldn’t grab them.
Feeling frustrated, the fox sat under the vine, staring at the grapes. They looked so tempting, but there was no way he could reach them. After a while, the fox shook his head and stood up.
“Those grapes probably don’t taste good anyway,” he said. “They’re probably sour and not as sweet as they look. I wouldn’t want them, even if I could reach them.”
With that, the fox turned around and walked away, trying to convince himself that the grapes weren’t worth all the trouble. But deep down, he knew he did want them.
**Moral of the story**: Sometimes, when we can’t get what we want, we tell ourselves it wasn’t that important in the first place.
